Coming from Valls, in the Alt Camp County in the province of Tarragona, Ramón Cosme and his family emigrated to Barcelona at the end of the 19th century.

A few years later, around 1903, the young Ramón founded the Bodega Valls at number 28 Unió Street in the Raval neighborhood in Barcelona, formerly known as the "Chinatown". This typical and emblematic bodega is located just 50 meters from the Ramblas in Barcelona right next to the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

Ramón Cosme in his childhood had been aixeneta at the "Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls" whose origins go back to 1801, being the oldest human towers association in Catalonia.
